A South African surfing event quickly turned frightening when Australian athlete Mick Fanning was attacked by a shark.
Miraculously, Fanning managed to escape the ordeal without injury.
The J-Bay Open has been cancelled after two sharks were spotted in the area. Fanning, a three-time Association of Surfing champion, was competing against fellow Australian Julian Wilson in the event’s final round.
