Yesterday we heard about Samsung’s plans for a pretty good-sized tablet, with rumors mentioning work on a 12-inch Windows 10 model. That’s well and good, but there are big tablets, and then there are big tablets, and a littler earlier this month we checked out some evidence that’s firmly in the latter camp, as an import database appeared to reveal a big 18.4- inch model under testing. Besides the screen size and some pricing info, we didn’t have much to look at back then, but now a new source attempts to flesh out the picture a little, sharing a few specifics about the tablet’s hardware and software.
Supposedly we’re looking at an Android 5.1 device here, Samsung’s model SM-T670, codenamed Tahoe. Despite the large screen size, Samsung might not push any limits when it comes to display resolution, giving the tablet a 1080p panel. The manufacturer’s tipped to go with an octa-core Exynos 7580 SoC, give the tablet 2GB of RAM, 32GB of microSD-expandable storage, an 8MP/2.1MP camera pair, and a 5700mAh battery. And even with its big 18.4-inch screen, the tablet would measure just 11.9mm thick.
While that’s quite a detailed breakdown of the components making up the tablet, our intel doesn’t yet share similar light on Samsung’s launch plans; we don’t have much of a sense for just how far along in development this guy might be, or if Samsung’s planning a launch during IFA, closer to the holiday season, or maybe all the way out into 2016.
