Xamarin is giving small Windows Phone developers a chance to access their tools to make cross-platform apps for free for a limited time. The company announced that qualified Windows Phone developers can register to access its Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android community-supported subscription tools for free until August 31.
These subscriptions include access to Xamarin's Visual Studio extensions. The company said:
"If you're a published independent Windows Phone developer and haven't taken the plunge into native, cross-platform mobile development with C#, there has never been a better time than now to get started."
Only one subscription will be given to any Windows Phone publisher; in other words, this is just for small or one-person development teams and not for large app companies.
