Aaron Sorkin, the screenwriter behind The Social Network and, most recently, Danny Boyle'sSteve Jobs, had some choice words for Tim Cook following the Apple CEO's claims that films like the upcoming Apple founder biopic are "opportunistic."
Sorkin's response? "You've got a lot of nerve."
At a press junket round table for Steve Jobs in London, Sorkin told The Hollywood Reporter that his experience of making the film was far from Cook's accusations of opportunism. Sorkin said that he and several others working on the project took pay cuts to make the movie happen.
"Nobody did this movie to get rich," he said. "Secondly, Tim Cook should really see the movie before he decides what it is."
"Third, if you've got a factory full of children in China assembling phones for 17 cents an hour, you've got a lot of nerve calling someone else opportunistic."
Cook had recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where he criticized film portrayals of his predecessor.
Though he admitted that he hadn't seen Boyle's film, he said he did not recognize the Jobs that he knew in any recent depictions.
“He was a joy to work with and I love him dearly. I miss him every day," Cook said. "I think that a lot of people are trying to be opportunistic and I hate that, it’s not a great part of our world.”
Steve Jobs, starring Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, and Seth Rogen, is due in theaters on October 9th.
