As you may have noticed this week, Twitter has started experimenting with a new feature that allows users to poll their followers.
But if you haven't seen the feature enabled on your account, it's probably because you're not one of the select Twitter employees or verified accounts deemed important enough to try it out.
The polls are a native feature — meaning the polls are embedded directly into the tweets, rather than use Twitter Cards, which lets you attach rich photos, media and videos. It's available on the mobile and desktop versions of Twitter, but it won't be available on third-party apps like Tweetdeck.

The poll option appears next to the media and location buttons under the text box you use to write a tweet. You're limited to two answer options, and there's a 24-hour time limit before voting closes.
It's unclear whether the feature will be available to the rest of the Twitterverse. But that hasn't stopped some wags from making their own polls anyway.
