At its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, Apple announced that transit directions would finally be coming to Apple Maps with iOS 9 in a few select cities. Baltimore, Berlin and Chicago were among those first up, but Sydney and Boston were left out.

Earlier this week, Apple sneakily added those two locations to its line up, as Mac Rumours spotted. According to Apple's wesbite, Sydney and Boston will soon be among the 13 cities where the app can help users find a route on public transport, from buses to trains.
Apple users who have updated to iOS 9 should see a "public transport" button appear in the app, although it is not functioning yet. An Apple spokesperson told Mashable Australia transit options should be available in Sydney at some point in October, but could not give a specific date.
Apple Maps has had a troubled history since it launched in 2012, especially in Australia, where local police had to warn users not to rely on it in remote areas. At this point, Google Maps has also had a significant head start over Apple in the mapping game, offering transit instructions in Sydney since 2012.
Apple is likely hoping its additional features — such as giving users information on the best place to enter or exit a station depending on where they're heading — will prove persuasive.
