Bugatti's Vision Gran Turismo concept car, unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year, isn't a model you can drive on the street ... yet.
It is, however, a hyper-performance virtual race car you can take to the track in the Gran Turismo video game.
Before it could virtually take to hallowed racetracks like Le Mans, however, it had to be designed both for the Frankfurt show floor as well as in the GT universe. This required two exacting design teams, Bugatti and Polyphony Digital, to work together to create a realistic look into the future of the Bugatti brand as well as an engaging virtual driving experience today.
They started by stripping away from the Bugatti all its ultra-luxury appointments, which left them with a hardcore race car that, while not as luxurious as a Veyron, was nonetheless an undeniable Bugatti. The roof fin, for example, which not only adds visual menace, also houses the DRS (drag reduction system) activation for the rear wing.
On the interior, the center console line runs up into the headliner. It's this kind of attention to detail that tells us this car is more than a virtual one-off, it's an early look at the next Bugatti.
Although we might yet be years away from the Veyron successor that this Gran Turismo Vision previews to grace the garages of the world's elite, you can take the W16-powered engineering masterwork onto the virtual track today and enjoy it for yourself.
